The likely outcome of the repeal of Roe v Wade has at least 26 US states assured or very likely to ban abortion. With more momentum, it is even a possibility to have a country-wide ban on abortion.

What will be the likely economic impact of these restrictive abortion laws or outright bans of it? I will delve into the statistics and what they are likely to suggest.

MORE BIRTHS WILL LEAD TO AN INCREASE IN POVERTY AND IN THE LONGER TERM: CRIME

Studies of crime rates after legalizing abortion in the early seventies showed that the after-effects of legalized abortion reduced poverty and crime rates. The US had a large decline in crime starting in the nineties and studies have shown that legalized abortion was one of the contributing factors to the decrease.

Abortion rates were responsible for a 47% reduction in violent crime and a 33% reduction in property crime. See this link for more info and this more current one on poverty.
