THE ECONOMICS AND PRACTICALITY OF EV OWNERSHIP

HAVING AN EV WORKS FOR ME, WILL IT WORK FOR YOU? HOW TO DECIDE.

I enjoy driving my Nissan Leaf, which is an EV. It has no gas tank, fewer moving parts, it doesn’t need oil changes, engine maintenance, and all the maintenance that an ICE vehicle needs.

ICE stands for Internal Combustion Engine. While that has revolutionized the world giving us greater and more convenient mobility, it comes with a cost. It is not good for the environment and it increases pollution in the atmosphere.

EVs are the future, and having one works for me, but will it work for you? Are we ready to just scrap ICE vehicles in the future?

MY LIFE EXPERIENCE WITH ICE CARS AND MOVING ON TO “GREEN” VEHICLES

I grew up in the 80s when cars still had carburetors, but fuel injection was an advancing technology. I remember seeing a prototype of a “hybrid” type car on a college campus. I thought it was cool, but never really paid any attention to it.

My first car was a Chevy Citation back in the 1980s. I think it made the list of one of the worst cars ever made. I drove it during my driver’s education course in high school and I thought it would be a good first car.
